We’re delighted to hear that Priya Morjaria – a graduate of City, University of London and currently at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine – has just been presented with The Paul Berman Young Leader Award.

Priya received the global accolade at the 2nd World Congress of Optometry in Hyderabad, India, on 10 September. The Paul Berman Young Leader Award is awarded by the World Council of Optometry (WCO) to an optometrist who has made an outstanding contribution to the WCO’s vision and mission and shows promising future leadership in world optometry.

Priya’s peers shared their thoughts with Study London on this impressive achievement:

“Priya has achieved this with hard work, dedication and perseverance. She truly deserves it.  Congratulations!”
Dr Uduak Udom, President, World Council of Optometry

“Priya’s dedication to improving the lives of others and incredible attention to detail, as well as her ability to build relationships and through them deliver world-class research and policies that can impact the lives of many, make Priya an outstanding candidate for this award”
Dr Andrew Bastawrous, Co-Founder and CEO at Peek Vision; Assistant Professor International Eye Health at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

“Priya’s inspiring story is an example of the value that our international students bring and the impact they have on global issues. At City, we work hard to provide a high quality learning experience that equips students with the knowledge, skills and attributes to be globally employable and make a positive contribution to the world. We wish Priya every success in her future work”
Professor Victoria Joffe, Academic Director Internationalisation; City, University of London

“Priya is a sought-after speaker and is on the teaching staff at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; but in addition to these accomplishments, Priya’s passion for children’s vision and the future of vision health on a global scale inspires her continued work and serves as an inspiration to others in the field”
