I really want to learn my subject in London, but no opportunity is open for me. The score needed by universities is very high that I can’t reach. Although I have practiced my career as translation service for over 10 years, they don’t trust my English proficiency to attend any courses of universities in London.

Is it possible for me to get an admission in any of the universities in uk as my age is 31 now? Also, i am a working in the oil fields of oman. I passed my three years polytechnic diploma in civil engineering by 2010 but my course was ended in 2005 means i am out of my studies for the last 11 years. When I made queries in several overseas studies agencies, all of them discouraged me not to apply for it because it will be difficult to get visa as they said. I wish to do a one year course in uk in any of the streams and i will be happy if i get a chance to do any boost up course in civil engineering. I am so eager to study at my 31 also and i am confident to do so. Please reply me with some good advices

    • Study London says:

Hello Eldo, thanks for your message. Some universities are concerned if an applicant has been out of education for a long time. However, this does not automatically rule you out. I would recommend you contact the universities you are interested in directly to find out what their requirements are before you submit an application. The application to study a postgraduate degree at a UK university is usually free, so you don’t lose any money by trying. You can also apply to as many universities as you like so you have quite a lot of choice. Good luck with your search!

Hello, Im looking to do my masters in 2017 once i finish with my 2 years of work experience. I read about how we could also work while doing a full time course. Is this applicable for students even with scholarships ? and is there an exam or something of that sort for choosing students to who get scholarship ? How does that process work. Please let me know so i could start doing the necessities and get started already.

    Thanks in advance !

    • Study London says:

Hello, yes any student who is studying at degree level at a recognised UK university can work part-time during term time and full time during the holidays. This also applies to scholarship students (unless you sponsor specifically states that you can’t work, although that would be unusual). If you are looking to apply for a scholarship at a UK university, you will usually be asked to complete a separate application form after you have applied for the academic course. There is no exam for scholarships. You can find out more about scholarship applications in the scholarship advice section.

    • Study London says:

Hello Emmanuel, if you applied for a course at a university you should have received a confirmation that your application was received. Please contact the university you applied for directly to find out the status of your application. At some universities it can take up to 6 weeks for a decision to be made. Good luck!
