London, the home of innovation

Study London has been chatting to a few of the stars in our new student innovation video about studying in London and what they like most about the capital.

Elena Dieckmann from Germany, founder of Aeropowder
“I believe that there is no other city in the world that accelerates ideas as quickly as London. By studying in London I managed a massive career change from automotive management trainee to sustainable entrepreneur and PhD student, within a very short time. I believe that this is only possible in London, as it is a melting pot of talent, ideas and people who are ‘doers’”.
London in three words: “Future proof, non-stop and hot!”

Joseph Katsioloudes and Constantinos Pouyioukka from Cyprus, founders of Glovdi
“London offers the diversity and multiculturalism you can’t really find in other big cities. This is the true magic of London, being able to experience different cultures without actually visiting a country.”
London in three words: “We really like this question! ‘Best place ever’, ‘place to be’, ‘eventful, exciting, endless’, ‘home sweet home’, ‘incredible, lovely, astonishing’, ‘fabulous, exciting, vibrant’, ‘why go elsewhere?’”

Pae Natwilail Utoomprurkporn from Thailand, founder of Trik
“Studying in London gave me the space, time and support I needed to figure out what I want to do and what I’m good at. It made me believe I can dream big. London is the centre of all exciting things that are happening in the UK and around Europe. London has the biggest pool of creative people and highly technical experts.”
London in three words: “Opportunity, inspiration and collaboration”

Eyenimi Ndiomu from Nigeria, founder of Ubenwa
“Having my education here in London has provided me with tremendous skills and a degree which is internationally recognised and makes me eligible for different jobs around the world. London is a very friendly place; you meet different people from different parts of the world.” London in three words: “Exciting, cosmopolitan and multicultural”

Mustafa Khanwala from India, founder of MishiPay
“We are at the epicentre of FinTech Innovation and that means the opportunity to work with investors, partners and talent of the highest level. Being in London also means that we get access to most markets across the world for customers, capital and talent. If you have ambition for world domination, this is one of the best places you can come to.”
London in three words: “Busy, fun, unpredictable and, if I got an extra cheat word, international”

Denis Huen from Hong Kong, developer of a medical device for Parkinson’s sufferers
“London is an international cultural hub. After studying in London, it opened up my mind. I see more opportunities out there – not only Hong Kong, China, UK, but the whole world. Studying in London is far more than books and examinations, but also experiencing the culture and life here.”
London in three words: “Cultural, international and exciting!”
